The Brewers had a rough week, dropping 5 of 6 games. However, in that one win, the Brewers had two players that earned this week’s honor. Ryan Braun and Junior Guerra teamed together to lead the team to a 7-0 win over the Dodgers.
Player of the Week
Braun hit .375 for the week with a home run, 6 RBI, and 3 runs scored. He had a huge game against the Dodgers on Wednesday during the only Brewer win during the week. He went 2 for 4, hitting a bases loaded 2-run double and a 2-run home run in the 7-0 victory.
Braun also had a 4-hit game on Sunday with a run scored. The Brewers could not complete the comeback, falling 9-8 against the Cardinals in St. Louis. He had an 11-game hitting streak snapped on Friday, but he had 5 hits in the next 2 games. Braun boosted his average to .328, good for 3rd in the National League.
Pitcher of the Week
Guerra pitched a gem on Wednesday against the Dodgers. He went 8 scoreless innings, giving up just 2 hits and 2 walks while striking out 7. He picked up the win, which was the only win for the Brewers last week.
Guerra’s 8 innings was the longest outing for a Brewer starting pitcher this season. It was his 5th quality start in 6 June appearances. His scoreless outing dropped his ERA down to 3.25.
